Dalesville Baptist Church
Sunday Morning Services
What Will It Be Like?
Please Stay Home If:
Before You Come In
Please bring a face mask with you from home. Disposable face masks will be provided for those who do not have one.
Use the hand sanitizer in the lobby on your hands before entering the auditorium.
Please bring your own Bible as there will be none available in the pew racks.
In case tracking should become necessary we need to maintain a list of attendees and dates. Someone will be responsible for that.
Entering and Exiting
The main doors and auditorium doors will remain open at least until the service begins. Do not touch the door or door handle on your way in or out of the auditorium. If for some reason a door needs to be opened please ask an usher to open it for you. Please maintain the recommended 2 meter distance while going in or out. Do not cluster, shake hands, or hug. Do your chatting outside – weather permitting of course.
Seating
Because we need to maintain physical distancing, seating will be in alternate rows only. Except for those who live together, a distance of 2 meters between those sitting in the same pew will be required.
As much as possible the auditorium windows will remain open during the service to provide air movement.
Singing
Government regulations prohibit congregational singing. There is, however, no prohibition against "making melody to the Lord with your heart" (Eph 5:19). So that's the way we will be doing it for the time being. Bob will be leading the songs as usual, Lois and Ian will play, but there will be no singing - out loud that is. The congregation will be encouraged to meditate on the words, hum along or recite the words. But we will be singing unto the Lord. The pew racks will be empty – no hymn books. The words will be projected at the front. It will be very different. The Dalesville Baptist Church will not be known for her great music and enthusiastic singing for the moment anyway. Lord willing in a short time we will be ourselves again.
Offering
The ushers will pass the offering plates row by row by moving along non-occupied rows. No one will touch the offering plates except the ushers and the tellers. The ushers will wear face masks.
Because of handling, checks are preferred over cash, but e-transfer is the best way to give. The procedure is written up on the church website. The treasurer can help you with the details if needed.
Communion
The servers will pass the elements row by row by moving along the non-occupied rows. Remove a bread element from the tray carefully without touching another piece. The cups will be set out with vacant places in between so that the recipient can remove one cup without touching another. Do not handle the tray.
The servers will collect the used cups similarly. Do not place your cup into the pew rack but wait for it to be collected.
Of course face masks will need to be removed during communion. Do not face or speak to your neighbor unnecessarily. The servers will wear masks while serving.
Bathrooms
Unless it's an emergency only the large bathroom will be available for use. Sanitizer wipes will be available. Make use of them to sanitize any surface – including the door handles – that you have touched. Please remember that the person you are protecting is the one who comes after you.
No linens will be available - please use paper towels instead.
Kitchen
For all practical purposes, the kitchen is off limits. Please bring your own drinking water if necessary. Anything that is touched will need to be sanitized. This includes counter tops, water taps, drawers and cupboards, glassware, and fridge and stove - so non-essential use is strongly discouraged. Please remember that the person you are protecting is the one who comes after you.
